Hot Peppers/Chili's
Posted by Trina Goggins on
Okay, No secret I love hot peppers. We'll anyone who follows my Instagram knows. If you aren't following me there, you really should be. I'm a special mix of fun, foolishness and helpful information!
A few things about hot peppers. The seeds aren't really hot. It's the membrane, and oils inside the pods. Now, let's be real. The seeds are touching these things, so when I'm saving said seeds, for you guys. I still have hot fingers, which results in various parts of my body on fire, Occasionally pee running down my legs, snot down my face, retching lungs up and maybe a little vomit making an appearance. But hey! It's a labor of love!
I digress, The heat comes from capsaicin, that's produced in the veins of the pepper. It's used in massage oils, topical pain relievers, in anti cellulite creams and has been known to help with acne. Hot sauce is even known as an aphrodisiac! Chili peppers have other benefits also.
Chili Peppers/hot sauce release endorphins, which has been shown to increase metabolism, which can help with weight loss. Even if you think it can't, the jumping and running around your about to be doing after eating one will surely have a cardio benefit lol. Chili's are high in vitamins, a good source of beta carotene, calcium, potassium, may help reduce cholesterol, and has as much vitamin C as 6 oranges!
A few esthetic reasons I love growing peppers also is, they are so beautiful. The leaves are just stunning, a great part of any garden. So give them a try!
